The Bank of the State of Mississippi was known as the Bank of Mississippi prior to 1818.
Minute book documenting the activities of the board of directors of the Bank of Mississippi and the Bank of the State of Mississippi from March 25, 1811, to February 14, 1835. Included are records of board meetings, lists of board members, and evidence of bank policies. One series of entries between October 17, 1814, and December 26, 1814, concerned the economic crisis that the Bank of Mississippi faced when it was forced to suspend specie payments during the War of 1812. Another entry, dated August 8, 1831, referred to a petition sent to the Mississippi legislature endorsing the establishment of the Planter's Bank.
